I got the stack glued up and started laying out some antler to figure out what piece I want to use. A lot of times my stacks may not be fully set until antler selection is made. Depending on the antler selected - I may end up adding a little more to the stack if needed. We shall see! πππ½ Happy Sunday! Finally have it all fitted together and ready for glue up. I'm pretty excited about this stack. I hope it turns out as nice as it looks in my head! Designing a stack for this forged droppoint hidden tang. I hope to start putting it together and getting the handle done on it soon. π ππ½Designing a stack for this forged droppoint hidden tang. I hope to start putting it together and getting the handle done on it soon. π ππ½

Started cleaning up this little clilpoint blade. Still needs a little more hand sanding and then it will be getting a heartbeat from an ultrasound engraved on the side as a special gift.Started cleaning up this little clilpoint blade. I have these two cleaned up and about ready for a handle. I will be *attempting* a two color paracord wrap on the handles. I've never done this before so wish me luck! π€π½πI have these two cleaned up and about ready for a handle. I will be *attempting* a two color paracord wrap on the handles. Hereβs a little better close up on a couple of the blades in this batch. Keep in mind that I just have the bevels roughed in prior to heat treat. They will get cleaned up and look a lot better when I get finished with them. First one is a little Wharncliff and the second is a little Sheepsfoot.Hereβs a little better close up on a couple of the blades in this batch. Got this batch of blades thermal cycled. All of my knives goes through three separate thermal cycles at sub critical temps to normalize the steel and relieve any stresses in the metal. I learned this from good friend and mentor @r.w.fred Then after the thermal cycles - I drilled holes for handle before heat treat because I know from experience that if I don't drill the holes before heat treat - the blades will be so hard that they will melt a drill bit! Anyway, then I heat treated and tempered them. 2 separate tempering cycles with the blades cooled to room temp between each temper cycle. You can see on a couple of the blades I drilled 1/8" holes in the center of the tang and some 1/16" holes around the outside. Depending on what handle I put on them - I may use 2 - 1/8" pins or I may use 1/16" pins around the outside. I hope to be putting some handles on them soon. Bevels are rough ground in on these two. Now they're ready for thermal cycles and then heat treat. πππ½ Have a great weekend!Bevels are rough ground in on these two. Now they're ready for thermal cycles and then heat treat. πππ½ Have a great weekend!
