A cleaver style knife may vary slightly in its shape but usually resembles a rectangular-bladed hatchet. It is mostly used in food prep as a kitchen or butcher knife. Most of the time they are large and are mostly intended for splitting up large pieces of soft bones and through thick pieces of meat. The knife's broad side can also be used in food prep for crushing things such as garlic and can also be used to scoop up chopped items. However I have only made mini cleavers so far rather than their larger counterparts.
